Friday's 2B Baseball: Toledo Runs Past MWP

RANDLE — The Indians took an early lead and never let Morton-White Pass into the game here Friday in a 10-1 C2BL baseball win.

Toledo’s Kyle Bauter went 2 for 4, and Christian Sanjuro was 2 for 4. The Indians led 3-0 after an inning.

“They jumped on us pretty early, and I think we were kind of surprised by that,” MWP coach Lee Metcalf said. “They kind of got us on our heels a little bit and we just never responded at the plate.”

Tommy Kinsman tossed the first five innings for Toledo to record the win. The Timberwolves managed just two hits.

Morton-White Pass (3-3) is back in action on April 10, playing PWV in Pe Ell. Toledo (2-5) plays at Kittitas on Saturday in a nonleague game.

Kalama Outlasts Napavine

KALAMA — Napavine scored five runs in the first inning, but Kalama slowly climbed back into the game and won 7-5 in a Central 2B League baseball game here on Friday.

Laythan Demarest started on the mound for the Tigers, pitching five innings while allowing one earned run on eight hits and three walks while striking out four batters.

Demarest helped his cause at the plate, going 2 for 4 with a run. Jake Darden had a hit and two RBI for Napavine.

After spotting Napavine five in the first, Kalama scored two runs in the third and one in the fourth to cut into the lead, and recorded four runs in the sixth inning to take the lead for good.

Napavine piled up five errors in the loss., and left the bases loaded with no outs in the second inning.



“We left runs on the bases,” Napavine coach Brian Demarest said. “That was kind of the story for the rest of the game. We just went into cruise control, and it ended up coming back and biting us.”

Napavine (4-5, 3-3) is off until Tuesday, April 10, when the Tigers host Adna in a C2BL doubleheader.

Loggers Chop Down Vikings

ONALASKA — Onalaska scored a run in all six innings they came to the plate to earn a 13-8 win over Mossyrock in a Central 2B League baseball game here on Friday.

Kyle Trulson had two singles and three RBI and AJ Volk had a double and two runs. Matt Kurzeika, Cole Christensen and Kyle Hamilton each had singles, while Christensen added two RBI for the Loggers.

Tristen Lawrence started on the mound for Onalaska and pitched five innings to earn the win.

Mossyrock’s Nick Fried had two singles and two RBI and JC Workman added two singles.

“We played good. We only had one error,” Onalaska coach Rocky Stanley said. “Mossyrock put the ball in play quite a bit. I was really happy with the way we bounced back from yesterday.”

The Loggers scored two runs in the first, fourth and sixth innings along with three runs in the fifth inning.

Mossyrock scored two runs in the second inning and four in the sixth inning. The Vikings scored two runs in the seventh, but didn’t have enough to complete the comeback.

Onalaska (2-4) travels to face Zillah on Tuesday at noon in a nonleague doubleheader. Mossyrock (0-6) travels to Toledo on Tuesday, April 10, for a C2BL doubleheader.
