Friday's 2A Softball: Vadala Blanks Rochester in Bearcat Win

W.F. West’s Ashlee Vadala couldn’t be touched in Chehalis on Friday, throwing a no-hitter to beat Rochester 7-0 in an Evergreen 2A Conference softball game.

Vadala struck out 14 batters and didn’t allow a runner on base after the third inning.

Ava Fugate was 2 for 3 with two RBIs, Paetynn Lopez was 2 for 4 and Olivia Dean was 2 for 3 for the Bearcats.

W.F. West broke open a scoreless game in the fifth inning with five runs, then added two more in the sixth to lock up the win.

“We looked more like ourselves today than earlier this week. We broke it back down to the basics, and the girls kept coming in clutch,” W.F. West coach Caty Lieseke said. “It was a good way to head into a restful weekend and come back on Monday ready for practice. It’s fun to have some nice weather.”

W.F. West (10-2, 7-0 league) travels to Tumwater on Tuesday while Rochester (5-4, 2-3 league) hosts Aberdeen on Monday in an EvCo matchup.



Tumwater Shuts Down Centralia

TUMWATER — Tumwater scored six runs in the first three innings and put away Centralia, 7-2 in Evergreen 2A Conference softball action here Friday.

Courtney Spriggs went 2 for 3 for the Tigers, while Aspen Lilly was 1 for 3 with an RBI. Tyler Jorgenson added a double.

Savannah Owen got the win for Tumwater, striking out five with one walk in the complete-game effort. Ashley May went 2 for 3 with a homer for the Thunderbirds (7-1), and Aly Carpenter doubled and drove in two runs.

Centralia (3-7, 2-4 league) plays at Black Hills on Monday.
