Friday's 1A Baseball: Brewer’s Homer Helps Tenino Beat Elma

TENINO — Logan Brewer homered in the bottom of the sixth inning to break up a 7-7 tie, and Tenino held on for a 9-7 win over Elma here Friday in 1A Evergreen League baseball action.

Brewer knocked a curveball over the left field fence to put Tenino up 8-7, and Karl Hisaw added an RBI double a few batters later for the Beavers’ final run.

Miles Cannon and Jesse Perez handled the pitching for Tenino, with Perez taking over in the fourth inning. Perez held Elma to two hits, with four strikeouts, over the last two innings.



“They gutted it out,” Tenino coach Conner Hogue said. “They haven’t seen a ton of innings, but we had four games this week and they knew they’d be throwing. They got in a lot of tough spots and just battled through it.”

Brewer went 2 for 3 with three runs. Dalton Chambers was 2 for 3, Jace Griffis went 2 for 4 and Cannon went 2 for 4 and drove in a pair of runs.

Tenino (7-5-1, 3-3 league) hosts Hoquiam on Tuesday.
