CC Women: Lady Blazers Bumped by Peninsula

The Lady Blazers hit a rough patch in their home opener Monday evening, falling 69-55 to Peninsula in NWAC women's basketball action at Michael Smith Gymnasium.

Centralia trailed by 4 heading into the fourth quarter, but the Pirates rattled off 22 points to pull away for the win.

Zhara Laster led Peninsula with 19 points and 19 rebounds, and the Pirates won the battle of the boards by a resounding 62-32 margin.



Sydnie Cole-Vogler led Centralia with 15 points and nine rebounds. Susan Kenney added 14 points, Tiana Thompson scored 10 and Katie Whitten chipped in with 9 points and two steals.

Just six players saw the court for Centralia in the loss.

Centralia (2-2) will play at Clackamas on Dec. 3.
