Posted

ABERDEEN — The Lady Blazers got a no-hit performance from Kierstin Smith in Game 1 and 11 hits in Game 2 to cruise in a 19-0, 9-1 NWAC West Region sweep of Grays Harbor here on Friday.

Smith pitched all five innings of the opener, and was a single hit batter away from a perfect game. The sophomore struck out seven without issuing a walk, and the Blazers played flawless defense behind her.

Mackenzie Wasson went 2 for 5, with a three-run homer in the fourth inning, and drove in four runs to lead the Blazers at the plate. Megan Levang was 4 for 4 with a double, a triple and four RBIs, Katherine Muegge went 2 for 3 and drove in three runs, Sierra Seymour went 3 for 4 and drove in three runs, and Sydnie Cole-Vogler was 2 for 4 with an RBI.

Cole-Vogler, Smith and Levang each had two hits in Game 2, and Muegge, Wasson and Kayla Hoke each hit doubles.

Jessica Glacken pitched for the Blazers, striking out five with two walks in the seven-inning affair.

The wins pushed Centralia’s West Region-leading record to 10-2. The Blazers (22-10 overall) hit the road to face Olympic in a doubleheader on Friday.
