CC Men: Edmonds Cruises Past Centralia

LYNNWOOD — The host Tritons scored 50 in the first half and rolled in a 97-73 win over Centralia on Sunday in the Triton-Pirate Classic here Sunday.

Jake Higgins led Edmonds with 27 points, while Morton-White Pass product Zach Walton scored 12 with eight rebounds on 19 minutes of action.

Austin Curry led Centralia with 22 points, though Edmonds led 50-31 at halftime.

Marqus Gilson added 17 points for Centralia, and Tyler Meadows chipped in 16.

Edmonds outrebounded the Blazers, 49-22.

Centralia (2-4) plays at Whatcom on Tuesday.

Peninsula Tops Blazers 86-61



LYNNWOOD — Three Blazers scored in double figures, but Peninsula had a 47-25 advantage on the glass for an 86-61 win here Saturday in the Triton-Pirate Classic basketball tournament.

Taylor Peppinger led Centralia with 16 points. Collin Prangley added 13 and Austin Curry chipped in 12 points with six rebounds and seven assists.

Trent Warren led Peninsula with 23 points and 12 rebounds.

Centralia shot 21 of 54 (39 percent) from the field, and hit all 13 of its free-throw attempts.

Poquette Helps SPS Go 2-0 Over Weekend

EUGENE, Ore. — Kaleb Poquette scored 22 points on Saturday and 13 on Sunday to help South Puget Sound go 2-0 at the Dale J. Bates Invitational here at Lane Community College.

Poquette, a freshman and former Morton-White Pass standout, scored 22 points on 7 of 12 shooting as the Clippers beat Tacoma, 84-81, on Saturday. The 2016 Morton graduate went 3 of 4 from behind the 3-point arc in the win. On Sunday, in a 103-96 win over Lane, Poquette went 3 of 6 from long range with four rebounds and four assists for 13 points.
