2B Softball: PWV Eliminated in Loss to Brewster

YAKIMA — Pe Ell-Willapa Valley gave up three runs in the bottom of fifth, as Brewster came from behind to top the Titans 5-3 here Saturday in 2B State Tournament action. With the loss, PWV was eliminated from the state tournament, while Brewster advanced to the 3rd place game.

The Titans scored four runs in the top of the first. Designated player Emily Sliva hit a two-RBI single, with Sam Woodward, Dakota Brooks and Grace Hodel also registering hits in the inning. PWV also capitalized on a pair of Brewster errors in the frame.

The Bears got two runs back in the third inning, as Yvette Sanchez and Markie Miller drove in runs on singles.

Brewster tied the game in the bottom of the fifth, with an RBI single by Kylee Vargas. Maret Miller scored two batters later to give the Bears the lead.



Markie Miller entered the game at pitcher for Brewster in the second inning, and allowed one hit while fanning five Titan batters.

“I look at our athletes, and I look at their athletes, and I think we just got outplayed by a team that wanted it a tad more,” PWV coach Ken Olson said. “I think we were energetic in the beginning but [Miller] came in in the second and kind of stuffed us for six innings.

Dakota Brooks pitched a complete game for the Titans, with eight hits allowed, seven strikeouts and three walks.
