MORTON — The Timberwolves turned up the pressure in the fourth quarter en route to a 48-33 Central 2B League girls victory here on Tuesday. Christine Robbins notched 13 points and seven rebounds for Morton-White Pass while Haley Kolb added 10 points and six boards.

“The first half was pretty even but we were able to stretch it about a bit before halftime,” MWP coach Tom Griffith said. “In the fourth we turned up the defensive pressure and that led to some easy points.”

The Timberwolves outscored the Cardinals 16-7 in the final stanza as Winlock turned the ball over 12 times in that quarter.

Rianna Whitehead led the Cardinals with 12 points, while Maggie Howsden had 10 points and nine rebounds.

Griffith added he liked the performance of Carly King, playing in her third varsity game, who scored 6 points with six steals.

Morton-White Pass (9-4, 7-4 league) plays at Mossyrock on Thursday while Winlock (4-9, 3-8 league) hosts Wahkiakum.

Trojans Fall to Mules, 69-29

PE ELL — Wahkiakum used its speed to get past Pe Ell 69-29 here on Tuesday night in Central 2B League girls basketball action. The Mules led 35-13 at halftime and went on a 22-6 run in the third quarter for their seventh league victory of the year.

“They’re a very well-coached, athletic team that gets up and down the floor very well,” Pe Ell coach Chris Phelps said. “We did allow some easy buckets and that was a testament to their ability to counter what we threw at them defensively.”

Pe Ell’s Savannah Skeen was just shy of a double-double with 8 points and 18 rebounds. Wahkiakum shot 58 percent from the field.

“Savannah did a fantastic job, she really stepped up as our strength inside,” Phelps said. “She definitely got after it.”

Pe Ell (1-12, 1-10 league) will host Adna on Tuesday.

Note: Pe Ell’s Maggie Elliott and Wahkiakum’s Macy Elliott won the game’s sportsmanship awards.

Ducks Dominate Vikings

MOSSYROCK — Toutle Lake dominated from the opening tip in a 71-12 Central 2B League win over Mossyrock here in girls basketball play on Tuesday.

The Ducks were stifling on defense and scored plenty of buckets in transition, dropping 28 points in the first quarter while allowing the Vikings to score just one field goal in the entire first half.

"Their man-to-man pressure really got to us and they forced us to make the hard pass," Mossyrock coach Darin Bullock said. "They executed well and the ran the floor. They beat us in pretty much all phases of the game."

Sam Woodley led Toutle with 24 points. Lainee Grose led the Vikings with 8.

Mossyrock (1-11, 0-11 league) will host Morton-White Pass on Thursday.

Tigers Fend Off Indians, 56-35

NAPAVINE — The Lady Tigers improved to a 10-1 Central 2B League record with a 56-35 win over Toledo here on Tuesday.

Grace Hamre led Napavine with 19 points while Melissa Lee chipped in 15 for the Tigers, who went 21 of 45 from the field.

"It was a good game," Napavine coach Jeremy Landram said. "The girls played well together and moved the ball pretty well."

Sophomore guard Becca Snaza received the first start of her prep career and executed well, Landram said.

Anna Tauscher was at the front of the offensive effort for the Indians with 12 points. Leilani Cline added 8.

Napavine (11-2, 10-1 league overall) will travel to Onalaska on Thursday. Toledo (5-8, 4-7 league) will head to Toutle to face the Ducks on the same day.

Pirates Pound Loggers, 56-39

ONALASKA — The Loggers competed well, but the Pirates' depth was ultimately too much in a 56-39 Adna win over Onalaska here in Central 2B League girls hoops action on Tuesday.

Kenya Lorton led the Pirates with 16 points while Onalaska shifted its focuses to shutting down Devanie Kleemeyer and Shanay Dotson in the paint. Kleemeyer added 10 while Dotson had 9, but the true sacrifice came on the glass, where Adna had a 40-18 rebound advantage.

"We started out tough but we had to adjust some things on defense to hopefully stop Kleemeyer and Dotson," Onalaska coach Dracy McCoy said. "That hindered our rebounding and that was a big difference."

The Loggers were led by Nicolle Duryea's 12 points and five steals. Colee Masciola added 9 points and was praised for her efforts while playing out of position. Maddy Dalsted put together a stat line of 5 points, five rebounds and five assists for Onalaska, which struggled in the numbers game while Adna continued to keep fresh players in the rotation.

"In the end, Adna has a big bench and more power than we do and that kind of hurt us," McCoy said. "The attitude and effort were definitely there for our girls tonight, however."

Onalaska (5-6 league, 6-7 overall) will host Napavine on Thursday. Adna (8-3 league, 9-4 overall) will be at Pe Ell on the same day.
