2B Girls Soccer: Dougherty Leads Pirates Past Toledo

ADNA — Alyssa Dougherty scored a pair of goals to lead Adna to a 3-0 win over Toledo here Wednesday in a Central 2B League girls soccer game.

Jordyn Swenson added a goal for the Pirates, with Payton Aselton and Rachel Burke each notching assists.

“We played a good game tonight,” Adna coach Juli Aselton said. “Our defense stepped it up.”

Adna (11-2, 11-1 league) plays at Life Christian on Monday and closes out the regular season at home against Onalaska on Wednesday. Toledo (5-9, 3-9 league) hosts Napavine on Monday and Toledo on Wednesday.

Kalama Shuts Out Shorthanded Winlock

WINLOCK — Kalama scored twice in the first half en route to a 3-0 win over Winlock here Wednesday in Central 2B League girls soccer action.



The offense had a tough time producing opportunities with senior midfielder Maggie Howsden out with an injury, Cardinal coach Brian Ziese said, adding that freshman Brenda Cuadra played a solid game.

“She really stepped up tonight,” he said. “She had a pretty good game for us. She played a little outside, and played some forward, but she just worked really hard.”

Eighth-grader Josmely Cruz-Ramirez moved into goal for the game’s final 20 minutes and played well, Ziese noted.

Winlock (3-8, 2-8 league) hosts Ocosta in a C2BL game on Monday.

Notes: Life Christian beat Onalaska, 5-2, on Wednesday night. Napavine was scheduled to play at Ocosta, but the game was postponed due to unsafe weather conditions.
