Mossyrock Thumps Kalama

KALAMA — The Vikings stayed undefeated here Friday, dropping Kalama 65-26 in C2BL girls basketball action.

Andee Nelson scored 18 points with 10 rebounds and three assists, and Hailey Brooks notched 16 points for the Vikings. Payton Torrey added 10.

Mossyrock led 41-18 by halftime.

“We started off a little slow,” Mossyrock coach Autumn Moorcroft said. “Our defense wasn’t exactly where I was expecting it. We made some adjustments and got the ball rolling.”

The Vikings shot 46 percent from the field (30 of 65) and held Kalama to just two third-quarter points to pad their lead.

Mossyrock (11-0, 1-0 league) hosts Toutle Lake on Tuesday.



Mason Paces Pe Ell in Win Over South Bend

PE ELL — Annika Mason scored 16 points, leading Pe Ell to a 35-28 victory over South Bend here Friday night in a Pacific 2B League girls basketball game.

Mason also grabbed 10 rebounds. Charlie Carper added nine points and 20 boards for Pe Ell.

The Trojans, however, trailed 15-2 after a quarter.

“We couldn’t hit anything the first quarter,” said coach Randy Driver. “I told them we had to keep playing tough defense and execute our offense better and the second half the girls came out and had a lot more success.”

The Trojans then outscored South Bend 22-6 in the third quarter en route to the win.

Pe Ell (4-5) held a 56-22 rebounding advantage, and hosts North Beach on Monday.
