PE ELL — The Bulldogs traveled a long distance and will make the long bus ride back happy, defeating the Titans 30-14 in a non-league football game here on Friday night.

Max Smith led the Titans with 20 carries for 71 yards and two touchdowns. Kollin Jurek had 39 yards on 14 carries. Quarterback Tyler Adkins completed 5-of-8 passes for 57 yards and one interception. Landin Isaksen caught one pass for 25 yards and Andrew Minton caught one pass for 19 yards. Smith and Kayden Miller had eight tackles to lead the Titans.

“In my eyes, it was a win for us. They were a good team, they’re a 4A school out of Baker City, Oregon, so a 2A school up here. We come out, look good, give up a couple turnovers here and there,” PWV coach Josh Fluke said. “We fought till the end. We could have laid down in the third and fourth quarter. Tyler Adkins had a hell of a game for never playing a varsity game before in his life.”

Baker quarterback Spencer Smith was 7-of-18 for 123 yards and two touchdowns and he ran for 53 yards and two scores. Riley Flanagan had four catches for 75 yards and two scores.

The Titans drew first blood with a 1-yard TD run by Max Smith. Smith completed a 5-yard touchdown pass to Riley Flanagan for a 7-7 tie after one quarter. Smith scored on a 2-yard run for a 14-7 Baker lead at halftime.

Smith connected with Flanagan again for a 25-yard score in the third quarter and Smith ran in his second of the night from 16 yards out for a 27-7 lead after three quarters.

Mahnori Rushton booted a 25-yard field goal for the Bulldogs and Smith ran in a score from 1-yard out.

“They look good, they have a little bit of size and they’re fast. They have a good QB (Smith). I watched some film on them and was like, ‘Holy moly,’” Fluke said. “I was surprised, they looked good. We lost but it was good for us going into the rest of the league games. I think it helped us, we have a bunch of starters hurt once again this year.”

PWV (3-3, 2-0) travels to Ocean Shores next Friday to take on North Beach in a SWW 2B Coastal Division game.
