2B Football: Adna Escapes Rainier With 34-24 Win

RAINIER — It was a muddy game here in Rainier on Friday and the Pirates were able to navigate the waters to a 34-24 win in a SWW 2B Mountain Division football game here on Friday.

Adna’s Cole Fay ran for 88 yards and two scores on 14 carries and caught three passes for 21 yards. Quarterback Braden Thomas had 87 yards and three touchdowns on 15 carries. Zach Berg collected 30 yards on eight carries and caught one pass for 10 yards.

Rainier’s Mikey Green had 161 yards and three touchdowns on 14 carries and was 2 of 9 passing for 54 yards. Brody Klein tallied 14 carries for 29 yards. Jake Jeske caught one pass for 45 yards and Logan Bowers caught one pass for nine yards and a touchdown.

Rainier outgained Adna 251-241, although the Pirates had the advantage on the ground, 210-197.



“We played the worst first half I’ve ever seen. The second half, we played much better,” Adna coach KC Johnson said. “You could tell we went two weeks without a game. it reminded me of an opener. We couldn’t catch a cold.”

Johnson commended the play of Lucas Ashley on the defensive line and Jarod Keys did a great job in the second half. He also noted the coverage of Zander Blankenship-Todd.

Adna (4-2, 1-1) hosts Onalaska next Friday while Rainier (4-3, 0-2) travels to Randle to take on Morton-White Pass.
