ADNA — Points came in bunches for Adna in a 72-61 Central 2B League victory over Mossyrock here on Wednesday night.

The Pirates had four players score in double-digits, led by Tanner Rigdon’s 23 points, and moved into a three-way tie for fourth — with the Vikings and Toutle Lake — in the C2BL standings with the win.

Adna jumped out to a 22-12 lead in the first quarter and had a 37-25 advantage at the half, but mustered just 8 points in the third quarter.

“We felt pretty good putting 37 points on the board,” Adna coach Luke Salme said, “but in the third quarter it was more of a grind and I don’t think anyone scored in the first half of the quarter.”

Mossyrock made a comeback with 29 points in the fourth quarter and pulled to within 6 before the Pirates’ Cody Young hit two 3-pointers to push the hosts’ lead back to double digits.

“We got to the free throw line 34 times and that was good to see,” Salme said. “That tells me we were being aggressive.”

Young finished with 14 points, Conner Weed had 10 and Garrett Trotter added 13 for Adna. Jaron Kirkley led Mossyrock with 15 points. Bo Miles scored 13, while Danny Nelson and Taylen Clevenger added 12 each for the Vikings.

“For us it's been the tale of getting scoring from Tanner and Garrett,” Salme said. “If we get our other guys going and in double-digits that definitely makes us a tougher out.”

Adna (9-7, 8-6 league) plays Morton-White Pass in Randle on Friday then heads to Toutle Lake on Saturday. Mossyrock (10-5, 8-6 league) hosts Pe Ell on Friday and travels to Winlock on Saturday.

Trojans Trip up Tigers

NAPAVINE — Pe Ell bought the passion, especially in the fourth quarter and overtime, to get past Napavine 71-62 in C2BL boys action here on Wednesday. Red Arrington led the Trojans with 23 points and 10 rebounds in the matchup.

“They had a better sense of urgency than we did,” Napavine coach Rex Stanley said. “They played hard against us the whole game. We were able to keep a lead early on by just hitting more shots than them.”

Napavine had the 49-35 lead going into the fourth quarter but was outscored 22-8. Cody Smith hit a 3-pointer with less than 6 seconds to go to force overtime.

“They were able to turn us over and hit big shots,” Stanley said. “They got the momentum through the fourth quarter and rode it into overtime.”

Pe Ell outscored the Tigers 14-5 in the extra stanza. Kaelin Jurek added 18 points for the Trojans.

Napavine was led by Wyatt Stanley’s 15 points and 10 rebounds, while Peyton Stanley and Austin Filley each added 14 points.

Napavine (12-4, 10-4 league) hosts Wahkiakum on Friday while Pe Ell (7-8, 5-8 league) plays at Mossyrock.

Ducks Thump Winlock

WINLOCK — A disastrous third quarter did in the Cardinals here Wednesday night in a 67-34 C2BL loss to Toutle Lake.

Winlock trailed 30-21 at halftime, but was outscored 23-2 in the third quarter.

“We were just trying to clean up a few things, and then Toutle came out and just jumped us in the third quarter,” Winlock coach Nick Bamer said. “We didn’t want to compete when they started to trap us.”

Cam Swanson led Toutle Lake with 21 points, and Nick Patching scored 14 to pace the Cardinals.

“We cycled in some bench players, and I thought they played well and earned some time tonight,” Bamer said, adding that Nolan Patching, Issac Allen and Luke Nielson all contributed late in the game.

Winlock (4-12, 2-12 league) plays at Toledo on Friday.

Timberwolves Start Strong to Cruise Past Mules

CATHLAMET — The trip to Wahkiakum county is never a short one, but that didn’t slow down the Timberwolves, who outscored the Mules 24-7 en route to a 76-43 Central 2B victory. Kaleb Poquette led Morton-White Pass with 17 points, nine rebounds and six assists to help keep his team undefeated in league play.

“We focused really hard on having good practices this week and playing well down this stretch run,” Morton-White Pass coach Tony Gillispie said.

Morton-White Pass led 41-24 at the half and outscored Wahkiakum 23-13 in the third quarter.

Derrick Erskine hit five 3-pointers for the Timberwolves, finishing with a career-high 15 points, while Matt Poquette notched 13 points and 13 rebounds. Gage LaClef also had 15 points. Not surprisingly, the Timberwolves finished with 20 team assists.

“I liked how we were sharing the ball and getting everybody involved,” Gillispie said.

Braiden Elledge finished with six steals and 6 points.

Morton-White Pass (15-1, 14-0 league) hosts Adna in Randle on Friday.

Wallace Lifts Toledo Past Ony

ONALASKA — Onalaska kept pace with No. 8 Toledo here Wednesday night, but a few big buckets by Reece Wallace lifted the Indians to a 45-36 Central 2B League victory.

Wallace hit back-to-back 3-pointers in the third quarter, helping Toledo lead things 27-25 going into the fourth, and added a key triple in the fourth to keep the Indians in front.

Logger coach Dennis Bower, though, was happy with his team’s performance.

“We’re getting better,” he said. “It’s not showing up in the win column, but we’re getting better.”

Stone Whitney led the Loggers with 11 points, while Matt Swett added 9 and Jacob Modica scored 8.

Modica, Bower added, played well defensively in holding Toledo’s Joe Wallace to 3 points. Jared Pohll added 9 for the Indians.

Onalaska (4-12, 3-11 league) hosts Toutle Lake on Friday, and plays at Wahkiakum on Saturday. Toledo (12-4, 11-3 league) hosts Winlock on Friday.
