RANDLE — Kaleb Poquette and the Morton-White Pass Timberwolves sealed their fourth consecutive Central 2B League championship with a 71-46 win over Adna here on Friday.

The T-Wolves have dominated the league for Poquette's entire prep career, something that coach Tony Gillispie takes pride in — though Gillispie said the team’s focus remains on its ultimate goal.

"We're quite pleased with this accomplishment in a very tough league," Gillispie said. "I'm proud of my kids because it hasn't been easy, but the work is just beginning. It's all going to be measured on how we finish."

Poquette recorded his second career triple-double, racking up 19 points, 11 assists and 11 rebounds. Brother Matt Poquette produced another double-double, leading MWP in scoring with 22 points and 11 boards. The Timberwolves shot an even 50 percent from the field.

Garrett Trotter led the Pirates with 19 points and nine rebounds.

The win comes on the heels of a big win for the Pirates, who defeated Mossyrock 72-61 on Wednesday. Adna attempted to slow the Timberwolves with various defensive sets, but it was only a matter of time before the Pirates were overtaken.

"They came out with some momentum and switched some different zones," Gillispie said of the Pirates. "It took us a bit to figure it out. Overall, I think we settled in and had a pretty good game. Getting a win against them after their big win is huge."

Morton-White Pass (15-0 league, 16-1 overall) hosts Napavine in Morton tonight in a boys-girls twinbill. The boys varsity will take the later game, starting at 7:30. Adna (8-7 league, 9-8 overall) plays at Toutle Lake tonight.

Loggers Fall to Ducks

TOUTLE — Onalaska couldn’t muster the pointers in a 50-25 Central 2B League loss to Toutle Lake here on Friday, but still stayed a game ahead of Winlock for the final berth in the District 4 tournament. Stone Whitney scored 14 points for the Loggers, but his team trailed 26-10 at halftime and was outscored 15-5 in the third quarter.

“Toutle changed defenses and trapped us a lot,” Onalaska coach Dennis Bower said. “They took us out of sets we wanted to run and we kind of got disorganized.”

Giving credit to the Ducks, Bower added that Toutle Lake crashed the boards and got a lot of putbacks as well. Onalaska struggled with missed layups and open looks at 3s at the other end.

“It wasn’t the effort of our kids, they played hard we were just undermanned,” Bower said.

Onalaska (4-13, 2-12 league) plays at Wahkiakum today at 5:45 p.m., while the Logger girls play at 7 p.m. in a doubleheader.

The Vikings were coming off a loss to Adna on Wednesday night, and scored 45 in the first half.

“We shared the ball really well in the first half, which was huge for us,” Ross said. “When we share the ball and catch people in rhythm and knock down shots — that’s something we work on, and it worked tonight.”
