TUKWILA —Toledo-Winlock United ran into defending champion Seattle Academy Tuesday night and, like every other 1A team on the Cardinals’ schedule this season, went home with a loss.
The 4-0 loss bounced United out of the State 1A Girls Soccer Tournament in the first round, and marked the second straight year the combination team ran into Seattle Academy at the state tournament.
“We played a great game,” said United coach Horst Malunat. “We were real organized, and real disciplined.”
Sierra Keeler, a Gatorade All-American and the 1A Player of the Year last season, scored all four goals for Seattle Academy (14-1). Keeler owns her school’s career record for points and goals, and will play for Colorado College next season.
“She’s pretty much a phenom,” Malunat said.
Lia Lucas played a strong game in goal, Malunat said, and added that the team’s seniors — Lucas, Haley Hellem, Tyrah Boone, Alinia Boone, Tiffany Tornow, Janessa Durham and Brittany Hope — all played well in their final game.
“We’re looking forward to next year,” Malunat added.
Toledo-Winlock United finishes the season with a 11-7-1 overall record.
