2B Boys Golf: Adna Golfers Top Wahkiakum

The Pirates’ scheduled five-team match wound up a bit smaller than planned, but the Pirates still managed to get everyone out on Riverside Golf Course for a full nine-hole contest Monday afternoon.

The Willapa Harbor contingent — Raymond, South Bend and Willapa Valley — was unable to attend, and visiting Wahkiakum brought just two golfers to the 2B boys meet.

The Pirates picked up the team win by default, and Wahkiakum’s Elliot Haney was the match medalist with a 44.

Logan Boone led Adna with a 50. Hayden Wolf shot a 52, Josh Nocis shot a 56, Caleb Britt carded a 57, Ethan Ross and Isaac Stevens each shot a 61, and Marcus Nakano and Alex Wickert finished at 64 and 66, respectively.

“We played steady and continue to learn how to play nine-hole matches,” Adna coach Alan Browning said. “There is certainly a learning curve going from the driving range to the course.”

Britt, Browning added, played well in his first match.

Adna will play the Mules at Wahkiakum County Golf Course on Thursday.
