SPOKANE — The Twin Cities' two junior American Legion teams travelled all the way to Spokane for the AA State Championship, only to face each other in the third round.

And the kids from the Mint City got a solid pitching effort from Brody Holcomb to bump crosstown rival Titus Will, 4-1, and advance on in the winner's bracket.

Holcomb worked all six innings for Chehalis Sobe-Toyota, allowing six hits with six strikeouts and two walks without giving up an earned run to get the win.

Holcomb helped his own cause with a 2 for 3 effort at the plate, while Daniel Blomdahl went 3 for 3. Brandon Davis and Will Alexander added hits.

Davis drove in a run in the first inning with a ground-ball out to put the eventual winners up 1-0. Chehalis tacked on a run on a bases-loaded walk in the second, and put across 2 more in the third on another bases-full walk and an RBI groundout from Michael Rose.

Centralia's lone run came in the sixth, when Jacob Monohon hit an RBI groundout.

Jake Sutton went 2 for 3 to lead Centralia at the plate. Nolan Wasson, Kieran Bredeson, Riley Christensen and Monohon each had hits, as well.

Chehalis will now face Eastlake at 7 p.m. tonight, while Centralia will take on Asotin in a loser-out game at 4 p.m. The winners of those two games will play on Wednesday.
