State Brackets Set for Three Local Teams

The WIAA's state bracket draws are complete — as far as local teams are concerned — and first-round opponents have been set.

The Morton-White Pass boys, undefeated at 24-0 and defending their State 2B championship, will face 20-4 Okanogan at 10:30 Thursday morning in Spokane.

The Napavine girls (20-5) will also face Okanogan (23-0) on Thursday, at 5:30 p.m. The Lady Tigers will take on the winner or loser of the White Salmon/Colfax game in the semifinals or consolation round on Friday.

The W.F. West girls, meanwhile, drew Lynden (17-7) in the first round and play their opener at 7:15 p.m. Thursday night in Yakima. The defending State 2A champion Bearcats are on the opposite side of the bracket from top-ranked Mark Morris, meaning a rematch on Saturday in the state championship game is a distinct possibility.
