VASHON — Tenino took a long road trip to get a bit of girls tennis in here Saturday, losing a tight 3-2 nonleague decision to Vashon Island.
Erin Engebreth and Natalie Hall won 6-2, 6-0 at No. 1 doubles, and Natsuki Funada and Ximena Oliveras won 6-1, 6-2 at No. 2 doubles for the Beavers.
“There was very good tennis played by all the players,” Tenino coach Patti Blanford said. “There was a lot of good tennis on a sunny day.”
Ali-Jo Vens lost a tight 6-2, 4-6, 11-9 match at No. 1 singles for Tenino.
“It was too bad someone had to lose that match,” Blanford added.
Tenino (6-4, 4-0 league) will host Eatonville on Tuesday.
