TUMWATER — The benchmark was set at 112 strokes, and seven golfers from the area made the most of their opportunities to advance to the Day 2 here in the opening of the District 4 2A Girls Golf Tournament on Monday.

W.F. West's Carly Noble finished in a tie for third place, shooting an 88 and largely outshooting her season average of 54.7 with a 48 in the front nine and a 40 in the back nine.

Shasta Lofgren didn't trail too far behind for the Bearcats, shooting a 101, with a 47 in the back nine coming as a season low.

"Both Shasta and Carly shot a season low today," W.F. West coach Bruce Thompson said. "They were pretty excited and we were happy about that."
