2A/1A Boys Soccer: Garcia’s Hat Trick Gives Warriors Win Over Monte

Posted

ROCHESTER — Luis Garcia knocked in three goals and the Warriors cruised to a 3-0 win over Montesano in Evergreen 2A/1A League boys soccer action here Wednesday.

Garcia’s first goal, in the sixth minute, came on a chip shot over the Montesano goalie. His second, in the 22nd minute, came on an assist from freshman Reyven Ferrer, and the third came in the 57th minute out of a broken play.

“Montesano came out and was playing pretty physical against us,” Rochester coach Brian Ziese said. “The second half we concentrated on trying to hold ourselves up and play a little stronger, and we looked a lot better in the second half.”

Ferrer, playing his first game, had a strong showing at center midfield, Ziese added. Jose Amaya recorded the shutout in goal.

Rochester (3-3, 3-1 league) will host Elma on Friday.
