TENINO — Solid offense across the board and pitching from ace Morgan Masters helped lift Tenino over Eatonville, 10-2, in Evergreen 2A/1A League softball action here on Thursday.

Despite allowing six hits, Masters avoided any extensive damage, striking out 10 and shutting the Cruisers down through the third stanza.

"They just couldn't keep up with her speed," Tenino coach Katrina Haupert said. "She came out strong and was hitting on her pitches really well today."

The Beavers' efficient hitting was led by Kendall Marin and Molly Eckerdt. Marin drove in 3 runs on 2 for 3 hitting and Eckerdt went 3 for 4 from the plate with a pair of RBIs.

Tenino got off to a hot start, plating 4 runs in the first, and continued to pepper in runs throughout the rest of the ballgame.

"I was really proud of the girls because it wasn't like we just had one blowout inning," Haupert said. "We were working hard each and every inning and connecting. It was nice to see the whole lineup getting the job done when they needed to."

The Beavers (2-2, 2-1 league) travel to Eatonville for a rematch on Friday.

Lady Warriors Split with Grizzlies

HOQUIAM — The Grizzlies got a Game 1 shutout, but the Warriors rallied back for the last laugh in an Evergreen 2A/1A League softball twinbill here Thursday.

Hoquiam defeated Rochester 4-0 in Game 1 and the Warriors won Game 2, 9-4.

Each team knocked five hits in the opener, though Hoquiam had more luck moving those hitters around the bases. Rochester coach Jared Lancaster called Hoquiam ace Bailee Bradley a tough matchup for his team.

"Bailee is a good pitcher and it was a solid battle," Lancaster said. "We had some miscommunications, but Hoquiam is just a tough team. It really could have went either way."

The Lady Warriors had nine hits in the nightcap and scored 6 runs before Bradley was brought back out to pitch in the top of the third inning.

Jaelin Lancaster went 2 for 3 with a double, Sierra Seymour added two doubles on 2 for 4 hitting, and Courtney Baird was cited for her consistency, going a combined 4 for 7 from the plate on the afternoon.

"We were fortunate to have the doubleheader and we knew that they only had one returning pitcher," Lancaster said. "So we were able to keep it close and score quick and keep that lead. It was a good win for us since Hoquiam has been dominating everybody."

Rochester (3-1 league, 4-1 overall) will host Tumwater in a nonleague game on Friday.
