2A/1A Baseball: Hill, Beavers Hold Off Eatonville

Posted

TENINO — Greigh Hill swung the hottest bat, and the Beavers got a solid pitching performance from Kaleb Strawn here Thursday afternoon in a 5-2 Evergreen 2A/1A League baseball victory.

Hill went 4 for 4 at the plate with 3 RBIs, two of which came on a two-out, 2-run double in the sixth inning to give the Beavers a bit of scoreboard insurance.

Strawn, meanwhile, worked the first six innings and struck out seven.

“He threw a lot of strikes and looked really comfortable out there,” Tenino coach Conner Hogue said. “It was just another improvement from last week, so it was nice seeing the guys continue to make adjustments at the plate.”

The game was tied at 2 going into the fifth inning, when Dakota Bellrose singled in Hill for the go-ahead run.

Tenino (2-1, 2-0 league) plays at Eatonville on Friday.

Note: Tenino’s 16-3 win over Forks, in Tenino, on March 19 has been stricken from the record, and will be replayed. An umpire’s second-inning balk call was protested by the Forks coaching staff and overturned on appeal. The game will be replayed from the instance of the call, which took place in the second inning with Tenino ahead 4-0. The game was originally scheduled for Forks, but moved to Tenino due to weather conditions, and will be rescheduled for the Spartans’ home field later this season.
