Babe Ruth 15s: Twin Cities Shuts Out Richland, 12-0

Posted

Twin Cities stayed undefeated in pool play with a 12-0 victory over Richland at the 15-year-old Southwest Washington Babe Ruth State Tournament Thursday in Chehalis. The Chehalis and Centralia combination squad had all aces on the mound and three pitchers combined to strike out 10 batters in five innings and allow just one hit.

Tysen Paul was perfect through three innings and struck out six. Meanwhile, at the plate, Twin Cities jumped out to a 12-0 lead through those three innings and decided to pull Paul to save his arm. Jacob Cleary struck out two batters in relief in the fourth and Tyson Guerrero struck out two in the fifth.

"We really focused on first-pitch strikes," Twin Cities assistant coach Chris Thomas said. "Nine of the 16 batters were first-pitch strikes so our guys were getting ahead."

Austin Emery had a 2-run home run in the second inning, while Joey Aliff and Tyler Pallas each had two hits in the game.

"It was another great effort as we got hits from seven of our nine batters," Thomas said. "Everybody contributed."

The win moves Twin City to 3-0 in pool play. The tournament hosts go up against Camas Friday 7 p.m. at Bearcat Stadium.
