2B Softball: Vikings Bats Hot in Split With Indians

MOSSYROCK — The Vikings and Indians traded blows, splitting a Central 2B doubleheader here on Friday, as Toledo won the first game 12-11 and Mossyrock took the second 16-5. The Vikings finished the twinbill with 22 total hits and a bagfull of extra-base hits.

“We just feeling our growing pains with some of the errors but the girls played really well and the intensity was good,” Mossyrock coach Mike Carlson said. “They’re hitting the ball hard, we played great defense at times and overall we had a good time.”

In the first game, Mossyrock had a 5-2 lead in the second inning before Toledo had a 7-run rally in the third. The two teams would exchange runs before Toledo plated the go-ahead run in the top of the eighth. Eva Nelson paced the Vikings, going 3 for 4 with two home runs, while Jocelyn Stanley also had a home run. Jamie Carlson was for 4 for 6 with a double.

Toledo’s Amaya Thomson was 2 for 4 with two doubles, while Kayla Bauter went 3 for 4 and Josie Delaney had two doubles.



In the second game, Mossyrock got revenge, using an 8-run second inning to jump out to a 10-1 lead and cruising from there. Carlson was 3 for 3 with two doubles and Stanley was 3 for 4 with two doubles.

Kaitlin Dunlap and Nelson each good games defensively, and the pitching was solid in each contest, Carlson added.

Mossyrock (2-8) will host Adna on Monday. Toledo (1-7 league) will play at Toutle Lake on Monday.
