COWICHE — The Timberwolves managed just three hits, but kept things close in a 5-4 loss to Highland Wednesday here Wednesday in nonleague baseball action.

The Scots scored 3 runs in the sixth inning to knot things up at 4, and snuck a run across in the seventh to secure the win.

Morton-White Pass pitchers James Sword, Braiden Elledge and Quinton Berkompas combined to strike out 11 and issue just two walks.

“We threw really well,” MWP coach Keith Coleman said. “They threw strikes today, and we made some pretty good plays on defense, too.”

Sword helped his own cause with a double, and Berkompas and Kade Gillispie each had singles for the Timberwolves.

Morton-White Pass (0-3) will host Toledo on Friday in Randle in a Central 2B League twinbill, starting at 3 p.m.
