Tenino’s season came to an end two wins shy of the state playoffs on Sunday, with a 6-1 loss to Hoquiam in the consolation semifinals of the District 4 1A Softball Tournament at Fort Borst Park.

The Grizzlies, last year’s State 1A runner-up, led 6-0 after the fifth inning, and pitcher English Hyde held Tenino to four hits. Morgan Masters scored the Beavers’ lone run, doubling to lead off the seventh inning and scoring on a passed ball.

Hyde finished with 10 strikeouts, while Masters worked all six innings for the Beavers, striking out five and allowing three earned runs.

Jessica Edwards, Merissa Richardson and Audrey Fant each added hits for Tenino.

Tenino finished the season with a 10-11 record. It was the final game for Tenino seniors Richardson, Masters, Fant, Molly Eckardt and Jessica Schneider.
