The Bearcats battled Black Hills once again to a slogfest, falling 1-0 to their Evergreen 2A Conference foe Thursday in the Mint City. Against his former team, Bearcats coach Allen Anderson saw Joslin Lindsay score a goal in the 74th minute and help the Wolves come away with the victory.

“From a spectator standpoint it was an awesome game to watch,” Anderson said. “I was a nervous wreck the entire time.”

The teams traded blows and close opportunities, with the Bearcats’ Clara Mattison at outside back and Sam Turner in the midfield standing out.

“The defense played really well tonight and it was the second game between us that was decided by a goal,” Anderson said. “Those are the ones I really enjoy as a coach and I think the players enjoy being in a game like that.”

W.F. West (3-7, 1-2 league) will host rival Centralia on Tuesday.

Tigers Fall to Thunderbirds

League-leading Tumwater defeated Centralia 7-2 last night in Evergreen 2A Conference soccer action Thursday in the Hub City, improving the Thunderbirds’ league record to 3-0.

“They have lots of weapons,” Centralia coach Henry Gallanger said. “It’s not just in their attack, but also their defense.”

Tumwater keyed in on the Tigers’ All-League forward Lauren Frost and tried to prevent passes to her during the game. Despite this, Frost was able to notch an assist on one of Rose Robbins’ two goals in the game.

Centralia was playing without two starters in the matchup. The Tigers (5-6, 0-3 league) play at rival W.F. West on Tuesday.
