TENINO — Paxton Russell scored a touchdown on the ground and through the air but it wasn’t enough as Castle Rock won 56-29 in a non-league football game here on Friday.
Tenino quarterback Aiden Wright was 13-of-27 for 170 yards and a touchdown. Russell had a 5-yard touchdown run and caught a pass for 20 yards and a score from Kysen Knox. Shawn Nicholson ran for 107 yards on 12 carries. Connor McLarty caught a touchdown pass from Wright for the Beavers.
William Tennihill was a highlight for the Beavers, returning a kickoff 70 yards for a score.
“Our kids played hard. I think Castle Rock had a good game plan and they exploited some of our weaknesses,” Tenino coach Cary Nagel said. “They took advantage of a couple of timely situations. Their running back is pretty good kid, Wyatt Partridge, he’s a good back.”
Tenino (1-2) hosts Northwest Christian (Lacey) next Friday for homecoming.
