WINLOCK — United wasn’t about to leave any doubt in its quest for a league championship.

The Toledo-Winlock combination boys soccer squad put the pedal to the metal early on and never let up here Saturday, crushing Seton Catholic 7-1 to seal the 1A Trico League title outright.

Orlando Hurtado recorded a hat trick, and Adair Garibay and Fernando Munoz notched two goals apiece for United, which started scoring in the second minute when Munoz assisted on Garibay’s first goal.

The two connected in the same order 13 minutes later, and Hurtado added his first two goals later in the first half on assists from Nicholas Patching and Raul Plancarte.

Seton Catholic’s lone goal came in the 34th minute, by Henry Dempski.

Munoz added his two goals in the second half, both on assists from Garibay, and Hurtado took an assist from Munoz to score his final goal in the 79th minute.

United improved to 9-1-1 with the win, well ahead of second-place White Salmon (6-1-3). The combination squad will, coincidentally, host White Salmon on Thursday night, in Winlock, to conclude the regular season, and as the Trico champion will play in the District 4 semifinals on Thursday, May 14, at Kalama High School.
