HOQUIAM — A slow first quarter hampered Rochester in a 53-41 Evergreen 2A/1A League loss to league-leading Hoquiam here on Wednesday but that didn’t stop them from battling. Noah Escott posted 16 points and the Warriors pulled to within 7 points in the fourth quarter.

“We started to get the nerves out and came back to make it a game,” Rochester coach Mark Goldrick said. “I was proud of the kids, they didn’t hang their heads and didn’t give up. They fought and had added a little suspense to the game.”

Josh Kennedy grabbed 10 rebounds and scored 6 points for the Warriors. Jerod Steen led the Grizzlies with 19 points.

Rochester (3-16, 3-10 league) hosts Eatonville on Friday for senior night.
