MOSSYROCK — The Vikings wasted no time here on senior night, defeating Rainier 3-0 in a Central 2B League volleyball match here on Wednesday.

Mossyrock won each set 25-8, 25-3 and 25-5.

Mossyrock seniors Lainee Grose served 21 of 21 with 25 assists and Paige Moorcroft served 14 of 14 with nine aces, nine digs and 12 kills for the Vikings.

Stephanie Fried served 28 of 29 with seven aces and 12 digs, Jamie Carlson added eight digs and seven kills playing on the outside, and Ava Nelson chipped in nine kills on the Vikings’ senior night.

“We let the seniors play quite a bit more than they normally would in that situation. Rainier hit the ball and they scrambled and played hard,” Mossyrock coach Alex Nelson said. “The girls did a good job putting away the ball pretty fast and being consistent serving and hitting.”

Nelson also noted the play of Amy Fitzhugh, who passed well off the bench.

Mossyrock (11-1, 9-0 league) plays its regular season finale Thursday, hosting Kalama with a chance for the Vikings to clinch the C2BL title with a win. If the Vikings win, they’ll host first-round District 4 tournament games on Saturday and face Toledo at 10 a.m.

Napavine Sweeps Mules to Wrap Regular Season

NAPAVINE — The Tigers closed out the regular season with a win here Wednesday, taking down Wahkiakum 25-18, 25-14, 25-21 in Central 2B League volleyball action.

Ada Williams had 13 assists with 12 digs, Mollie Olson piled up 14 kills, three block-kills and nine digs, and Abbi Music notched 17 digs and served 100 percent for Napavine.

Melissa Lee played a solid all-around game, Napavine coach Monica Dailey said, with seven kills, four block-kills, seven digs and eight aces. Olivia Woodrum added four aces and served well, Dailey said.

The game was senior night for the Tigers, with Olson, Lee, Music, Maddie Thompson and Tyler Colburn honored before the match.

Napavine (13-1, 9-1 league) is currently tied with Kalama for second in the Central 2B League standings, with the second-place team hosting games Saturday on the opening day of the District 4 tournament. Kalama, however, plays at first-place Mossyrock (9-0 league) on Thursday night; if Mossyrock wins, Napavine finishes second, but if Kalama wins it creates a three-way tie for first place and a tiebreaker will determine playoff seeding.

Loggers Put Away Pe Ell in Four

ONALASKA — Pe Ell snuck in a win in the third set, but Onalaska bounced back for a 25-9, 25-20, 21-25, 25-19 victory here Wednesday night in a Central 2B League volleyball match.

“I felt like we came out strong and we played pretty well the first two sets, and then we kind of stopped talking in the third game,” Onalaska coach Terri Dalsted said. “We’ve been really working on our communication, and we saw the effects of a lack of communication in the third game. We put it back into action and were able to finish strong.”

Alicia Vint had 20 assists and served 8 of 8 for the Loggers, while Phoebe Rich had 13 kills and 22 digs. Danyka Nevitt went 15 of 15 at the service stripe with eight aces and 15 digs, and Dalsted praised McKenzie Pannkuk for her positive talk throughout the match.

Pe Ell’s Annika Mason, Presley Peterson and Ellie Little each served 100 percent and Peterson was 92 percent passing. Elliott led the team with 13 kills and Alli Justice had a team-high nine assists.

“We got off to a slow start, but they came back and took one of the games from them. We played hard today, I’m super proud of the girls,” Pe Ell coach Karie Cleveland said. “We’ve built a solid foundation for years to come and I’m proud with how they finished this year. The win-loss doesn’t show the work they’ve been putting in, it’s a great group of girls.”

It was the final volleyball match for Pe Ell seniors Elliott, Anna Nacht and Makayla Newell.

Onalaska (5-8, 5-5 league) finished sixth in the C2BL standings, and will open District 4 tournament play against the No. 3 team from the Pacific 2B League on Saturday in the gym of the C2BL’s No. 2 seed — either Napavine, Mossyrock or Kalama.
