Rep. Jaime Herrera Beutler Asks Paul Ryan to Present New Health Care Plan

Amid discussion by Republican U.S. House of Representatives delegates to repeal the Affordable Care Act, Rep. Jaime Herrera Beutler sent a letter to House Speaker Paul Ryan urging him to ensure Congress offers a replacement health care solution along with repeal efforts.

In the letter, Herrera Beutler said she is in favor of presenting an affordable and accessible health care system.

“It’s vital that we move forward with replacing the ACA in a manner that doesn’t cause additional disruption to those families who have already endured higher costs and the loss of their doctors and plans since the ACA was forced upon them,” the letter said.

Consequently, she urged any repeal to be accompanied by an immediate strategy to replace the Affordable Healthcare Act.

One way she suggested this was to allow residents of one state to purchase health insurance from other states’ insurance providers. She said there should be a debate on how best to transition to a new model.
