Stoned and Squealing

• On Jan. 21, a judge in Lewis County Superior Court found a glass marijuana pipe in his courtroom. It was found where Albert D. Melton, 24, of Centralia, was sitting. Melton had been in the courtroom to be remanded to jail; jail authorities interviewed him about the pipe, he reported it was his, and then confessed to some burglaries he knew about in the 2800 block of state Route 508 that occurred last October, according to police. Byron K. Sedrick, 31, of Centralia, was then contacted about the burglaries, and he admitted his involvement in theft of about $6,000 in merchandise, including a pistol, according to police. Sedrick and Melton were booked into jail on second-degree burglary; Sedrick was also arrested for theft and failing to register as a sex offender.
