Letter to the Editor: Thank You to Christmas Angels

Posted

Lewis County has two amazing angels that helped Santa (many Santas) and his elves deliver special Christmases to over 240 Lewis County families in need this year.

Kim and Mark Witham will humbly tell you it is takes a whole community to make all of this happen. But without the Withams, including their daughter and son, leading the way and giving up much of their family time throughout the year, many of these families would not have had any Christmas.

For a number of years, the Withams have worked (with the help of many community members and companies) to bring the Forgotten Children’s Fund (forgottenchildrensfund.org) to Lewis County. The Forgotten Children’s Fund helps families who are facing many different kinds of life challenges. Their Santas and elves make personal home visits to bring warm jackets, socks, Santa gifts, food and most importantly hope to families needing a hand up. There just aren’t enough words to describe how much good this brings to our community.

Santa is back at the North Pole now, but the Withams are already working on Christmas 2019. There will be an even bigger need for more community help this year, including Santas and elves, wrappers, vans and vans drivers, donations and so much more, because every year there are more of our neighbors facing life challenges

This is a chance (as the Withams are already doing) to get involved in our great community and make a positive difference. If you don’t know anything about the Forgotten Children’s Fund, look them up. You will be amazed, and hopefully want to get involved.

Thank you, Mark, Kim, Ryan and Emilee, for spearheading this, and all of your other helpers, for keeping the real Christmas alive in our community and allowing the rest of us to share in these magical experiences.
