Letter to the Editor: Thank You for Keeping Our Roadways Safe

Posted

The Lewis County Target Zero Task Force wishes to thank our law enforcement officers for  their efforts to increase safety on our roadways.

All of the law enforcement agencies throughout Lewis County came together and participated in “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over Holiday High Visibility Emphasis Patrols” targeting impaired driving from Dec. 12 to Jan. 2.

This resulted in increased enforcement efforts over the holidays, looking for impaired drivers, speeders and other dangerous drivers. As a result of their efforts, our law enforcement officers arrested 17 people during the holiday patrols.

Three of those arrests were for impaired driving. That’s three impaired drivers removed from our roadways, who not only were risking their own lives operating a motor vehicle while impaired, but also the lives of others who could have been seriously injured or killed.

Thank you to all the law enforcement agencies in Lewis County for participating in the holiday patrols and continuing to keep our roads safe.
