Letter to the Editor: Summer Volunteers Needed for Mobile Meals Group

Posted

Do you like cooking for larger groups of people (up to 60)? We have the place for you: Mobile Meals (an all volunteer group).

We prepare and serve food to homeless and low income guests who come to Gather Atrium at 408 W. Main in Centralia on Saturdays. We have the pots and pans, food, and eager diners from 9 a.m. to 1p.m every Saturday.

We currently have one cook for the summer. Come and observe with her and then try it solo. A valid Washington food handler’s card and transportation are all you need.

We provide tested simple recipes and all the ingredients. The cook makes a main dish and sides with the assistance of a helper or two. Other volunteers provide dessert and sack lunches and stock the coffee bar. Come and be appreciated! If cooking isn’t your thing (no food handler’s card required), we welcome your help with set up, serving, visiting with guests, and clean up. Please contact me at 360-219-3435 to learn more.
