Letter to the Editor: Republicans Are Blind to Illegality, Immorality of Trump Administration

Posted

Today is November 15, 2019.

My neighbor is a serious political theater junkie. He is following the impeachment hearings on Capitol Hill daily. I suppose this is a good thing. For him it is important to see first hand the people testifying, and to hear not only the testimony being given, but the questions being asked and responses of the congressmen and congresswomen on the committee.

As for myself, I don’t feel any particular need to indulge in that particular act of self flagellation. I respect that the Congress is doing their duty under the Constitution, holding hearings to determine if any laws have been broken or if the president has followed the Constitution in the performance of his duties as outlined by our founders.

For the record I have no doubt that the president has both engaged in illegal actions and failed to abide by the limitations placed upon his office by the constitution. I just have other things to occupy my time, and I can read the transcripts of the hearings online at my leisure. Plus, it is sickening to me to see first-hand the conduct of the members of the congressional cult of Trump as they trash every rule of demeanor and respect for the institutional rules of order that have been the backbone of the legislative branch of our government for over two centuries.

There is a saying that comes to mind as these hearings run their course:

“In the land of the blind the one-eyed man is king.”

The former Republican party, now the cult of Trump, have gouged out their own eyes in their efforts to excuse the continuous illegality, immorality, and complete disrespect for the rule of law being engaged in by their Chosen One. Now, through their clawing, snarling, and intimidation are attempting to silence and demean every single witness. They are truly seeking to turn America into the land of the blind.

Not to be outdone by his Congressional minions, the Chosen One is continuing his behavior best described by another old adage:

“Don’t pee on my back and tell me its raining.”

With his constant stream of lies, half truths, and hatred he is truly peeing on this nation and all our people.

As for myself, I have a message for the cult of Trump.

I was born at night, not last night.
