Letter to the Editor: Kudos to Jan Nontell, Rectangle Gallery

Posted

This letter is in response to a Chronicle story written by Will Rubin, “Emerging Artists Gather for Gala at Rectangle Gallery,” published Oct. 20.

Kudos to owner Jan Nontell for hosting events such as this. The Rectangle Gallery and “Taste of The Arts” are the only two bright spots for the visual arts in Lewis County and surrounding area.

Centralia College used to be the center for the arts but no longer. This was lost when the Fine Arts Department was destroyed a few years ago with no intention of replacement.

So, it takes someone with a love for the visual arts, Jan Nontell and her Rectangle Gallery, to fill the void. It is so enlightening to see someone step up to offer young artists a showcase to display their work.

If you haven’t had the opportunity to take in the Rectangle Gallery in downtown Centralia, by all means do so.

Inside the gallery you will see a wide variety of two- and three-dimensional art of high quality, something for everyone’s taste!

Thank you, Jan. You are appreciated.
