Letter to the Editor: Herrera Beutler Shows Again She’s Afraid to Face Her Constituents

Posted

We continue to see that Jaime Herrera Beutler is afraid to face her constituents. With the increasing possibility of electing Carolyn Long as the representative for the 3rd Congressional District, Jaimie is afraid to have a one-on-one debate with her opponent.

She tries to obfuscate the issue by saying she is having forums. A forum is not the same as a debate. A forum does not allow the interaction between the candidates nor does it have a moderator who controls the questioning or real time fact checking. Let’s see a real debate between JHB and Carolyn Long.

JHB has not been willing to meet with the general public for almost two years. She was willing to attend a fundraiser at Centralia College, where she raised money by auctioning off guns. She does photo ops with a select few. She also rode in the Morton parade, where she sat on top of a horse and graced everybody with her parade wave.

She doesn’t seem to want to mix with the common people. In contrast, Carolyn Long has had over 35 town hall meetings (none of them over the phone) and at least four of them have been in Lewis County. The last one was at the Veterans Memorial Museum with 130 in attendance.

Carolyn Long was at Centralia’s Fourth of July parade and the Morton parade, where she actually walked the route and mingled with the people. Imagine that! It is time to say, “You’re fired,” to Jaime and elect Carolyn Long as our 3rd District representative.
