If you will be visiting downtown Centralia in the near future, consider taking a few minutes to visit the Borst Park Fuchsias Garden. Plan to get out and give it a little time because it is truly spectacular this year with huge plants covered with red, scarlet, pink, white and purple blossoms plus many color combinations. For some reason the garden really came into its own this year. It is located adjacent to the parking lot directly in front of Thorbeckes Fitness Center, or about a block down on the right side of the entrance road to the park if you are not familiar with Thorbeckes. It was painstakingly built over many years by a local plant club called the Fuchsia Fanciers with assistance from Centralia City Parks which built a fine sprinkler system. I guarantee it will be worth your time.
