Walter Ellery Towne

Walter Ellery Towne, born April 7, 1951, was granted the key to heaven on Sept. 3, 2013 at 62 years of age, after battling liver cancer.

Walter was born in Bremerton, Wash. and lived the majority of his life in Centralia, Wash. He spent his younger years living all over Alaska traveling and working in the canneries. Walter was the manager of All Stuff-Inn Storage Unit in Centralia, Wash. for the past 20 plus years.

Walter had a special love for his grandchildren. He loved anything to do with the outdoors. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed hunting. Walter also loved playing baseball as a Babe Ruth pitcher, the team he was on went to the regionals with 5 pennants. He enjoyed listening to good music and playing his guitar. The Beatles were his favorite. Walt was known to family and friends as a man of integrity and values. He was always available for advice and good conversation and known for his wit, he was a man of character. He often said, “If you don’t have your word, you don’t have anything.”

He was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia Mae Towne; his sister, Cheryl Griffith; his brothers, Arthur Towne and Jerry Towne; parents, Ira and Myrtle Towne. He is survived by his children, Greg (Amber) Towne, Sandra (Robert) Towne Scotton, Cheryl Towne, Susan Towne Troit, Rosanna Dee Sugar, Romne Griffith, Jason Griffith and LaLena Griffith Foster; as well as brothers, Ira “Bud” Towne and Alan Towne. He is also survived by his dog, Jetta; his cat, K.T.; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank everyone for their prayers and support during this difficult time. A special thanks to Paige and Vaughn Wright for their dedication to our father.

Services will be held at Grace Foursquare Church located at 3030 Borst Ave, Centralia, Wash. on Saturday, Sept. 28, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. Potluck to follow. Donations can be made at All Stuff-Inn Storage and Key Bank in the name of Walter Towne.
