Suzanne “Suzy” Benny, 90, passed away Aug. 18, 2018, at Kaiser Hospital in San Jose, Calif. She was born Dec. 12, 1927, in Chehalis, Wash., to Clarence “Digger” and Gertrude Boone. After her mother passed, her father and stepmother, Jerry raised her.
Suzy was preceded in death by her husband, Theodore Benny; and sister, Mary Mullen.
She is survived by her three children, Darcy (Don) Read, Marcia Benny and Mary Kay Johnson; grandchildren, Trevor (Virginia) Read, Justin (Aubrey) Johnson and Ashley Read; and two great-grandchildren, Roslyn and Jameson Read.
Suzy was a lifelong resident of Chehalis until she moved to San Jose in in 2011. She attended Chehalis High School, and Washington State College, where she was a member of the Delta Delta Delta sorority. She and Ted were avid Bearcat and Cougar supporters. Suzy loved helping customers and doing the books at the family business, Benny’s Florist. Many will remember Suzy for her warm smile, kindness, generosity, compassion, humor and zest for life. A memorial service will be announced at a later date.
