Susan Caryl (Roberson) Peterson

Susan Caryl (Roberson) Peterson was born April 25, 1951, in Centralia, Wash., to Wilma Irene Roberson (Caryl) and Randall Merlin Roberson. She left us Nov 21, 2018, while on a cruise in the Caribbean Sea on her way to the Panama Canal.

Susan met Jerry Peterson, a guy from the other side of the tracks, Chehalis, New Year’s Eve, 1967. She graduated from Centralia High School in June 1969, and they were married that December. In 1972, they moved to Marysville, Wash., and raised their two sons, Joseph and Randall.

Susan loved books, so a 30 year career at the Marysville Library was perfect. Even more perfect, her daughter-in-law, Anna gave her a grandson, Zander. After her grandson and books, Susan’s greatest passion was travel. She and Jerry traveled to Egypt, Switzerland, Scotland, England, and they cruised across the Atlantic, around the Mediterranean, across the Pacific and all over the Caribbean. And they still found time for many visits to Disneyland and Disney World.

A celebration of Susan’s life will take place Jan. 19, 2019, from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m., at the Marysville Library, 6120 Grove St., Marysville, WA 98270. A second memorial in Centralia is being planned for March 2, 2019. Susan would have enjoyed knowing that donations in her honor would go to organizations like the American Civil Liberties Union, or to support any candidate that will stand up to “That Man”.
