Steve passed away peacefully Oct. 13, 2018, at Capitol Medical Center in Olympia, Wash., after a short battle with cancer. He was born April 13, 1957, to Charles (Chuck) and Joan (Phillipi) Rambo. Steve was a lifelong Lewis County Resident.

He graduated from W. F. West High School in 1975, and attended Centralia College for two years, earning his associate degree. Steve got his private pilot’s license through Centralia College and joined the Toledo Flying Club soon after. He loved to fly, and one of his first dates with his future wife was a flight to Shelton for lunch. Steve and Laurie (Johnson) were married May 19, 1979, and resided in Centralia. 10 years later, the couple moved to their present residence in Chehalis, a short distance from Steve’s childhood home.

Steve worked for United Parcel Service as a delivery driver for 30 years and retired at the age of 50. His favorite activities for many years were flying and working on Aerochutes. Steve enjoyed his fellow flyers and their “fly in” get together very, very much. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing with his family and friends, especially Dan Barton.

Steve and Laurie have two wonderful children, Nicholas (Kathryn) Rambo and Carrie (Aaron) Samuelson; and two precious grandchildren, Thomas and Hannah Samuelson. ‘Popo’ dearly loved his grandbabies and was always teaching them life lessons. He is also survived by his mother, Joan Rambo; his father-in-law, Wallace Johnson; and mother-in-law, Beverly Johnson, all of whom were very dear to his heart.

Steve will be interred at 10 a.m., Thursday, Oct 18, 2018, at Claquato Cemetery, Chehalis, Wash. A gathering at the family’s residence will immediately follow the graveside service.
