Shirley Ann Mitchell

Shirley Ann Mitchell was born Feb. 3, 1942, to Howard and Eloise Clark in Ryderwood, Wash., and was raised in the Tenino area. She passed away Aug. 1, 2019, at Providence Centralia Hospital. She was born Shirley, but liked to be called “Sam”.

Sam was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Marcia Gray; and lifelong best friend, Marilyn Williams.

She is survived by her husband, John Mitchell of Toledo; son, Steve Stanton of Toledo; daughter, Tina Demitiuk of Pasco, Wash.; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Sam lived and attended school in Tenino. Later in life, she settled in Toledo, where she and John built a life and a home. One of her biggest pleasures of life were her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, where she was an integral part of their success. Sam had many friends and extended family, with whom she was a great support. She loved the home John and her had built. Their home is filled with loving memories and pictures of her family and friends. She will be missed greatly by all. Per Sam’s request no service will be held.
