Funeral services for Shelby Rossow, 78, of Herreid, S.D., was Saturday, in Herreid, S.D. Her burial was at Fairview Cemetery under the direction of Kesling Funeral Home, Mobridge, S.D. Shelby passed away Tuesday, Dec. 6, 2016, at Good Samaritan Society of Herreid.
Shelby Jean Rossow was born June 13, 1938, in Grand Rapids, Minn., to Laurance and Lempi (Pehkonen) Garske. At age three, she moved with her family to Washington. In 1956, she graduated from Rochester High School in Rochester, Wash. After graduation, she worked for Pacific Bell Phone Company in Washington before meeting Dennis Rossow, who was stationed at Fort Lewis. Shelley and Dennis were married October 17, 1958, in Centralia, Wash. Following their marriage, they made their home on the Rossow family farm, three miles south of Herreid.
Shelley is survived by her sons, Laurance (Reta) of Herreid, Dwight (Cynthia) of Herreid, Eric of Herreid and Roger (Naomi) of Herreid; 10 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; brother, Larry “Butch” (Cathy) Garske of Centralia, Wash.; sister, Lorraine Maddox of Centralia, Wash,; brothers-in-law, Norman Vojta of Longmont, Colo., and Ronald (Donna) Rossow of Herreid; several nieces and nephews; and many dear friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Dennis in 2007; brother-in-law, Roger Maddox; and sister-in-law, Alvena Vojta.
