Sharon Williams, beloved mother, sister, grandmother and friend, passed away peacefully Nov. 19, 2015 at her home in Lacey, Washington surrounded by her immediate family.
Sharon was born in Chehalis, Washington on Dec. 20, 1937 to Arthur and Nellie Smith and grew up in Napavine, Washington. Sharon married Eugene Williams in 1955 and celebrated 41 years of marriage before his passing in 1995. She and Gene traveled between Northern California and Chehalis, Washington, finally settling into their small farm in 1963. Together, they raised three children and one grandchild in their home in the Boistfort Valley where Sharon maintained gardens of vegetables and flowers.
Sharon developed an avid interest in collectible and antique items, and managed her shop, The Cellar, on Highway 6 for several years. She often noted the shop was only there to fund her weekly buying excursions and annual buying trips along the west coast. For ten years, she and Gene were members of the Centralia Glass Club with other antique and collectible enthusiasts. Sharon was a Master Gardener and former volunteer with the Lewis Mason Thurston Area Agency on Aging Council. She became a member of Crimestoppers in 1996 and was a dedicated volunteer with the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office Support Volunteers group from 1998 to 2014.
Following the death of her husband, Sharon developed an interest in tap and jazz, taking lessons which eventually lead to her selling the farm, moving to Lacey, Washington and joining the Wrinkles of Washington (WOW) Prime Time Tappers dance troupe. She performed in several of the WOW productions and branched out into performing with Entertainment Explosion and the comedy tap trio Just for Fun. She was an active participant until she became ill in 2014.
Sharon met Cal Cutlip in 2006 and traveled with him to Hawaii, cruised to Alaska and along the California Coast and explored San Francisco and parts of Arizona. They were inseparable until his death in 2010. She is survived by brother Mikal (Sheri) Aust; daughters, Deane (Rob) Campbell, Lori Williams (Jim Hickman), and Belle Williams (Tony Perdue); grandchildren, Taryl (Matt) French, Nichole Williams, Sam Williams, III, Krystal Williams, Kelsey Williams, Caleb Campbell and Sharon Cassy Campbell; seven great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and her “fur-baby” Chihuahua, Mattie.
Sharon was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Eugene; son, Sam Williams, Jr.; and granddaughter, Christy Campbell.
Sharon was an anchor for her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, providing support and guidance sometimes directly, but often by example. Sharon enjoyed life, every moment. We will miss her energy and vitality, her ready smile and helping hand.
A visitation is scheduled from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., Monday, Nov. 23, 2015 at Sticklin Funeral Chapel, Centralia, Washington. A memorial service will be at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, Nov. 24, 2015 at Sticklin Funeral Chapel, Centralia, Washington. A reception will follow the memorial service at the Veteran’s Museum, 100 SW Veterans Way, Chehalis, WA 98532. Please bring your favorite dish to share, main course for lunch will be provided. Arrangements are under the direction of Sticklin Funeral Chapel in Centralia.
