Nora May Shannon

Posted

Nora May Shannon kept a warm home with an open door, something sweet and delicious baking in the oven, and plenty of home cooked comfort food for anyone who stopped by for a visit.

She was born in North Dakota in 1934, to William and Lily Andrews.

She graduated with honors from Centralia High School, worked as a telephone operator and married Dick Shannon in 1953. Nora and Dick were long time supporters of Toledo High School athletics. They were two of Toledo’s Big Cheese Parade Marshalls in 2015. Nora enjoyed her time as a member and officer of The Lone Yew Sewing Club.

Inseparable, Nora and Dick taught kindness, honesty and integrity to their five children, Richard (Michelle) Shannon, Jim Shannon, Tamie Shannon (Chuck) Wright, Tauni (Clive) Hatfield and Kelly (Doug) Daviscourt; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother, Butch Crawford.

Nora was preceded in death by her husband, Richard (Dick) Shannon; and brothers, George Andrews, Hank Andrews and Donald Andrews.
