Nancy Lee Gudyka

Nancy Lee Gudyka, 76, passed away in Pe Ell, Wash., Friday, Sept. 13, 2019. She was born in Elma, Wash., Sept. 3, 1943, to Luther “Ernie” and Mary (Whiting) Mullenix.

Nancy married the love of her life,  John J. Gudyka Jr., June 24, 1961, in Pe Ell. She was a member of Pe Ell Volunteer Fire Department, District 11, where she served as a firefighter, emergency medical technician and commissioner. She was a volunteer at the Pe Ell Food Bank and Booster Club, St. Joseph Parish Altar Society, Veterans of Foreign War Women’s Auxilliary and several other organized social groups. She was a Cook for many years at restuarants in Pe Ell and elsewhere for over 20 years before retirement. Nancy loved her family and enjoyed cooking for get-togethers. Her nickname was “Sarge” because of her take-charge attitude. Nancy’s favorite past times were digging for razor clams, and playing card games.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John; and her parents, Mary and Ernie.

Nancy will be loved and missed by all who knew her, particularly her children, Mike (Judy) Gudyka of Snohomish, Wash., and Ronnie (Kimberly) Gudyka of Tumwater, Wash.; grandchildren, Laura, Megan, and Marti; great-grandchildren, Nolan and Leona; sisters, Linda Wood of Eagle Creek, Ore., and Kathy Nichols of Orofino, Id.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will take place from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 19, 2019, at Sticklin Funeral Chapel in Centralia, Wash. The rosary and funeral mass will be held at 10 a.m. and 11 a.m., respectively, Friday, Sept. 20, 2019, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Pe Ell. A graveside interment will follow the mass at St. Joseph Cemetery in Pe Ell. In lieu of flowers, Nancy’s family asks that donations be made to the Pe Ell Fireman’s Auxiliary, P.O. Box 308, Pe Ell, WA 98572.
